But the heavy weather, had forced the water to stain the drywall. Removing the sheetrock, as well as the insulation, allows the wooden structure to air out and dry. If in the instance, the paper had continued to remove until the gypsum was exposed, a new drywall patch would have been inserted. Following steps involved a coat of BIN Shellac primer on the exposed drywall paper, followed by coats of compound, until the damaged area was built up enough for sanding. The surface is then sanded back to blend in with the existing surface. Followed by a coat of PVA primer, a single spot paint of the repaired area, and a full coat of the entire wall to prevent flashing, since paint is a satin finish.
