Restroom Door Repaint

With a store opening only two months prior, I was called in to take care of peeling paint forming on the restroom doors.

This high traffic area was showing wear on the spots most touched by the guest. The cause was the use of latex paint. Great for protection on areas that don’t see high contact, but not the best for things such as doors, windows, or trim.

To correct, the doors were stripped back where the peeling was forming, followed by a sanding, and cleaning.

The failing areas were then spot primed with an alkyd enamel primer, followed by two coats of alkyd enamel paint on all sides of the door, along with the casing.

The alkyd enamel, while takes a longer time to dry than most water-based paints, provides an unbelievable durable finish. With a properly prepped surface and enamels ability to lay flat, can also provide a great finish when a high-end smooth finishes are required.
