The Pantry Upgrade
‘Morgan reinvented our pantry and utility closet. His attention to detail was impressive. My wife dreaded opening up either of these closets prior to the renovation. Now, we look for opportunities to peek inside. He dressed them up with new birch shelving (hand made), trim and accent walls. I could not be happier! Highly recommend!’ - Jeremy P.
The client had approached me about upgrading their pantry. The old one had fixed shelving and was laid out with planks. Very typical for most houses in this area.
Birch was the only criteria given to me. With that, I had it in mind I wanted to make the shelves adjustable and wanted to apply edge banding to give a clean and solid look. Shiplap was then suggested to help dress the walls up. Almost making the pantry like a flash of silk fabric on the inside of a nice dress blazer.
Once the pantry was completed, they had offered the same approach in their staircase utility closet.
New finished pantry
Birch was used for the shelving and shiplap for the walls. A peg system was added to adjust the shelving.
Care was taken to add depth to the finish.
Finished understair shelving.
Details were taken to wrap baseboard around the shelving to add depth.
By making the shelving adjustable, the client does not have to worry if items will be able to fit the space.
Baseboard detail.
Shiplap was used to line the walls. This adds a touch of detail to the space that elevates the space and is unexpected.
