Small But Mighty - The Dewalt Bit Case

Dewalt bit holder case

Drills are important. Majority of being a carpenter is using the correct fastener, for the correct material and situation. Between nails and screws, each have their own language, but it is screws that can throw you for a loop if not prepared.

In my first year, I had saved enough for my first drill set. The Dewalt 20v Max cordless Impact and Drill. Additionally purchasing a bit case set. Stocked with a handful of the most common bits, and a 3” extension. This was my showcase. Showing the crew I was with, that I was serious.

In years that followed, I have burned the motor up in the drill. The impact is still around, but is a tired machine. Replaced by newer and more powerful models, only pulled from retirement when needed.

The bit case…. The bits are either lost or stripped.

But the case is still going strong.

It is such a favorite item of mine, that I have guarded that case my entire career. It very seldomly reappears on the store shelves. And for the off chance it reappeared, I bought a 2nd one. With a 3rd, if it appears again.

What makes this case so special?

It fits perfectly in my tool bag. For being compact in its make, it leaves enough room in any pocket, that I can fit other items as well.

The layout. The bits are easily accessible. Holding all the bits typically used. With a spot for a 3” extension. Or can hold a couple of specialty bits, like a spyder bit or T-tap.

It is a fully enclosed clear case. Being able to enclose the bits, helps from moisture rusting the bits. As someone who works outside and is caught in the weather occasionally, I appreciate this. As I’ve found other cases from other brands, are open. With the clear enclosure helping to distinguish the bits available.

If I had one thing to recommend, it would be to double up.

As someone who works at heights frequently, the point of these cases is access, without rummaging through a tool bag. In one case, I keep all the various torx bits from T10 through T30. As well as Phillips P1, P2, and P3. Sprinkled with additional T20, T25, and P2. With the 2nd case, carrying additionals of the 1st case, but also paired with Roberts and Flats, for the odd times of use.

Then in the extension section, I will keep one case with a6 3” extension, and in the other I have placed two specialty bits for the most common lag screws used on the job.

The point that I like with this, is the organization with the right functionality. Taking little room and storing additional item, with minimal tool runs. And that is what makes this small but mighty case amazing.
